What does 50 years of singing together look like? A musical celebration, of course. Music that marks a major event such as Handel’s Zadok the Priest (originally performed for the coronation of King George II in 1727) and the joyful Exsultate Justi by John Williams. Music that is familiar and loved by audiences (Un Canadien Errant, Fare Thee Well Love), music drawn from a repertoire reflecting the versatility of the choir (Purcell, Bernstein, Rutter), and a première commissioned for this performance (One Thought Ever at the Fore – Don MacDonald).

Celebrations also mean getting together with your friends and having a good time. A 50-year old choir’s friends include former as well as current conductors (Ed Norman, John Capon, Gail Lund, Wade Noble, Lionel Tanod). They also include musicians who have performed with us before such as the Nanaimo Youth Choir, harpist Josh Layne and percussionist Nicole Arendt as well as our new accompanist, Jenny Vincent. They are current members of the choir, friends who have sung with us in the past (and will be singing with us in this performance), they are you – our wonderful audience. So put on your fancy duds and come party with us!
