Opera Nanaimo is proud to present a wonderful evening of beautiful, romantic music for your Valentine’s Day enjoyment. The concert will feature bass/baritone Michael MacKinnon and his real life partner, mezzo-soprano Shanté Van Horlick. Michael is becoming well known to Nanaimo audiences for his warm, rich bass/baritone voice. He has been recently featured as Colline in Opera Nanaimo’s production of La Bohème as well as a soloist in Brahms Requiem and the Messiah for the Malaspina Choir here. Shanté, who is a recent graduate of U.B.C.’s Opera School, is fast gaining an excellent reputation as a mezzo soprano. She has been acclaimed in such roles as Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Mercedes (Carmen). Their program will feature music from opera, musical theatre and popular song.

The concert will place at the Cavallotti Lodge which offers plenty of free parking. Also offered for the ticket price will be some tasty bites and coffee.

Refreshments can also be obtained at the cash bar. Michael and Shanté’s vocal ability and personal chemistry is sure to warm every heart. Make this Valentine’s Day special with a wonderful bouquet of beautiful music!
