Event Notes

× by Myriam Verzat with Melissa Nobles, Josephine Burgess, Valerie Mermet, Michael Geselbracht

There is an old Sanskrit word, lila, which means play, richer than our word, it means divine play, the play of creation, destruction, and re-creation, the folding and unfolding of the cosmos. Lila, free and deep, is both the delight and enjoyment of this moment, and the play of God. It also means love.

Lila may be the simplest thing there is — spontaneous, childish, disarming. But as we grow and experience the complexities of life, it may also be the most difficult and hard-won achievement imaginable, and its coming to fruition is a kind of homecoming to our true selves.

Lila is an interactive performance that was born out of play. It was born out of a liberating and community play that emerged through a restrictive pandemic. With the Silent Disco technology, a core group of dancers started to connect to the landscape to dance, to dive into our collective space and to play in it.

This performance is an invitation to let yourself be transported by dancers into the energy of dance, love and play. All of us, performers and spectators will be listening to the music using the Silent Disco technology. Part of the show is improvised to let the magic of play unfold. You might be invited to join the dance.
