At Bowen Park Auditorium, 500 Bowen Road, Nanaimo.

“An all ages matinee celebrating the ageless joy of music and laughter…”

As part of their current BC tour, Rick Scott and Nico Rhodes ROOTS & GROOVES joins forces with the Vancouver Island Symphony’s Children's Choir conducted by Patricia Plumley for a vibrant all ages matinee celebrating the ageless joy of music and laughter.

ROOTS & GROOVES is an alchemy of songs, stories and musical mastery garnished with mischief and joie de vivre. Rick and Nico defy categorization, in a word, they cook!

Three time Juno nominee Rick Scott and his Appalachian mountain dulcimer have performed in 11 countries and released 19 recordings.

Award winning arranger and musical director Nico Rhodes grew up on Rick Scott's music—he wrote Rick a fan letter when he was 8!

The ROOTS & GROOVES duo was born when at age 23 Nico orchestrated Rick's music for the Vancouver Island Symphony and they discovered that despite 40 years age difference, they share the same groove!

For the past 5 years the VIS Children’s Choir has performed Nico’s arrangements of Rick’s music in the educational concert My Symphony, enjoyed by over 10,000 Island students.

On March 10 the Choir joins Rick and Nico in a special concert that redefines ‘inter-generational’, featuring piano, dulcimer and voice in a lively program ranging from folk and blues to classical, of appeal to all ages from children to elders.

Doors open at 2 p.m. so come early and check out the auction. To celebrate Festival Nanaimo month there will be Nanaimo Bar Treats following the show!
