Performance Notes

× The Harbour City Jazz Festival is an annual celebration of Nanaimo’s talented jazz students from John Barsby Community School, Wellington Secondary School, and Nanaimo District Secondary School. The festival gives students the opportunity to perform and showcase their talents for the community in a high-end concert venue.

Each year, the festival welcomes a highly-renowned guest artist. This year—the 19th—the festival is very proud to feature renowned jazz vocalist Dee Daniels. She first honed her vocals in her stepfather’s church choir in Oakland, California, and went on to perform all over the world, including twelve African countries, Australia, South America, Japan, and throughout Europe and North America.

The night will feature performances by ensembles from each school as well as collaborations with their instructors and Dee Daniels. Don’t miss this chance to see some of the best present and future jazz talent together in one of the country’s premier concert halls!

Note: Ticket revenues go towards fundraising efforts for the school music programs. Parents and families can ensure the ticket revenue goes to their child's school when purchasing by applying a code for buying online or calling the Ticket Centre:
